Actually, I've taken a look at the different Guild Wars websites for other countries and there's some stuff they don't post on the American website for some reason. Who knows?

Because Japan enjoys cute little anime characters whilst to the rest of the world; the cute little girl trying to explain the game would likely turn a lot of people away from the game 'cause it wouldn't seem like a serious game for mature people.

heh Knightsaber does make a genuine point. I love anime but most americans want "manly' cartoons like Transformers and GI Joes (like them too, old ones anyway).

Possibly because of the huge culteral variations between the east and west.
Japanese and Chinese things tend to have the whole Manga feel to them, and generally involve alot of school-girl-esc looking girls. I expect the entire Japanese website has that Manga feel to it and I also expect thats why we have a school-girl-esc looking Gwen on the website to apeal to the boys.
(So so so so creepy on so many levels)
I couldn't imagine a cutesy, cartoon Gwen fitting into the style of the europe or American website. Could you?
Then again, if we had an artisticly rendered Gwen who looked like the rest of the art on the european and American website, then I'm all for it.
But please god, no Manga Gwens dressed like school girls on our website.

I wouldn't say its such a problem with maturity as it is with western masculine ego. People in the western world are so afraid of being childish, but they end up turning to entertainment and mindsets that are anything but mature. Its funny. I think T. S. Eliot said something about that.
I, on the other hand, WOULD GIVE MY LEFT HAND OR MY LEGS FOR A MINI GWEN CHAN!!!
WOOOOOO! GO MINI GWEN CHAN!
But I'd settle for Gwen Chan on the website.

Yeah, what's with the hog.
So far there's been several things in the Guild Wars chapters about hogs that look fantastic. Does anyone at Anet show or breed hogs on the side?
Are there even such things as professional hog shows?
BTW, Gwen really needs a pair of shoes. There's pointy sticks and rocks out there. How can a character who doesn't take precautions with feet safety be expected to train new players adequately.

Yeah but there were two quests and one mission bonus in Prophecies that focused on hogs, and Prophecies was released two years before the year of the pig. Someone over at Anet must have some kind of pig fixation, bacon on the brain >_< ......

Somehow I just don't think a anime girl with a massive head and oversized eyes would really make me want to save Ascalon from the Charr and kill Abbadon.
In otherwords, we don't need it.

I'm supporting the OP
My Reason: I'm playing to refresh my mind from real life, for me cartoonist style (manga/japanese style not western/America style) will remind me that I'm here playing for fun ^^.
